Criminal liability is being introduced in Russia for calls for sanctions against Russia. The relevant law was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the document is published on the website of legal acts.

Violation of this provision of the law is punishable by five years in prison.

The law also criminalizes the provision of assistance to international organizations in which Russia does not participate, for hire or for payment, in the execution of decisions on the criminal prosecution of officials or military personnel. The violator faces up to seven years in prison.

Criminal liability for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for mercenary motives or for hire is also being tightened. The term of imprisonment will be up to seven years.

In all cases, confiscation of property is provided for those who have committed crimes.
