The water and beaches in Crimea, Sochi, Tuapse, Gelendzhik and a number of other settlements on the Black Sea coast are safe for swimming after an emergency with a spill of fuel oil from wrecked tankers. This was reported by Rospotrebnadzor.

The ministry also noted that there was no non-compliance with the standards in drinking water and fish in the Republic of Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory.

Two Russian oil tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239 crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024 as a result of a storm, which led to an environmental disaster.
