The State Duma has proposed measures to curb meat prices ahead of the May holidays. The parliamentarians appealed to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Oksana Lut with a proposal to introduce temporary restrictions on the export of pork and poultry meat, as well as to establish a duty-free regime for their import.
The initiative is aimed at preventing the traditional pre-holiday price increases caused by increased demand for barbecue meat. It is assumed that the barbecue embargo will be in effect until June 1, with the possibility of subsequent adjustments depending on the market situation. Such measures should help to stabilize meat prices and make them more affordable for consumers during the holiday period.
