Over the past winter, the tourist flow from Russia to Turkey decreased by 13% compared to the same period last year, amounting to 577,000 visits. According to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the largest decrease in tourist traffic was recorded in February - by 17.5%. In December, the drop was 10.5%, and in January - 11.6%.
Experts attribute the decrease in tourist flow to an increase in the cost of accommodation in Turkish hotels and increased competition from other winter beach destinations. Alternative destinations have become more attractive: transportation volumes to Egypt and Thailand have increased, prices for holidays in the UAE have decreased, and direct and connecting transportation to Hainan and Vietnam has become more affordable.
