At the plenary session in the State Duma, a bill was passed in the first reading obliging Russian citizens to take the oath of office from the age of 14.

Currently, the oath is taken at the age of 18. The authors of the initiative explained the decrease in the age limit by the need to "increase the patriotic spirit and consciously commit to observing the Constitution."

In case of refusal to take the oath, it is proposed to invalidate the decision on admission to citizenship.
