In January, the business confidence index, which characterizes the generalized state of entrepreneurial behavior of organizations, decreased compared to December 2024. Rosstat provides key data on sentiment in the extractive industries and the manufacturing sector based on a study of 4,9 thousand non-small business organizations.
The business confidence index decreased: in extractive industries by 0.1 percentage points to (-1.0%); in the manufacturing sector by 2.5 percentage points to 4.2%. At the same time, in January 2024, the same indicator was 6.3% and 6.5% in the relevant industries, according to the data of the statistical agency. Thus, in manufacturing, the negative dynamics of the index was influenced by a decrease in the share of respondents who positively assess the prospects for output over the next 3 months. In mining and manufacturing, the share of heads of organizations who assess the current economic situation at the enterprise as favorable continues to decrease, from 3.2% to 0.5% and from 10.3% to 9.7%, respectively. In the extractive and manufacturing industries, an assessment of the prospects for changes in the economic situation in the next 6 months shows a decrease in the share of optimistic respondents from 11.1% to 2.1% and from 26.9% to 19.9%, respectively, according to Rosstat materials. At the same time, the capacity utilization rate in these sectors was 60%. There are still not enough people to meet the challenges facing enterprises. The statistics also show a decrease in prices for products sold in mining, as stated by the majority of respondents.
