In the city of Kungura, Perm Krai, 73 people, 25 of them children, sought medical help with signs of acute food poisoning. This is reported by TASS with reference to data from the Ministry of Health of the region.

Out of the total number of people who sought help, 66 people were hospitalized, including 24 children.

The first victims started seeking medical help on January 30. As it turned out, they all bought shawarma at the local cafe Shaurma-kosmos. The inspection of the catering point revealed gross violations of sanitary legislation. The causative agent of salmonellosis was detected in all those poisoned.

A criminal case was opened on the fact of mass poisoning under the articles "Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements" and "Violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules that inadvertently caused mass illness or poisoning of people." The cafe owner was detained and placed under house arrest until the end of March.
