The withdrawal of blocked assets of the Russian Federation may cause unplanned consequences that will have a negative effect on the international financial system. This was announced on Friday by the head of the Euroclear international depository, Valerie Urbain, writes Bloomberg.

According to the publication, Urbain believes that Trump is trying to persuade Ukraine to negotiate with Russia. At the same time, the fate of the frozen assets may become one of the topics of negotiations.

According to Urbain, if EU members do confiscate Russian assets, they need to assume related financial obligations in order to subsequently protect Euroclear from Russian lawsuits.
