The agreement signed between Russia and Iran contains a clause on strengthening cooperation in the field of security and defense. 

Thus, the third article of the treaty states that if one of the parties is subjected to aggression, the other should not provide any assistance to the aggressor. 

-If one of the Contracting Parties is subjected to aggression, the other Contracting Party should not provide any military or other assistance to the aggressor, contributing to the continuation of aggression, and will help to resolve the differences that have arisen on the basis of the Charter. The United Nations and other applicable norms of international law, the article says.

Russia and Iran have also agreed to cooperate with intelligence agencies in order to strengthen national security and counter common threats.

The fifth article stipulates military cooperation between the two sides. In particular, it covers a wide range of issues, including the exchange of military and expert delegations, visits of warships and vessels to ports of the two countries, training of military personnel, exchange of cadets and teachers, participation in international defense exhibitions, joint sports competitions, cultural and other events, joint naval operations for assistance and rescue, as well as the fight against piracy and armed robbery at sea.
