The Moldovan-Russian energy company Moldovagaz has officially recognized a debt of $709 million to Gazprom (owns a controlling stake in Moldovagaz).. This statement was made by Acting Chairman of the Board of the company Vadim Cheban in a comment to TV8.

He confirmed the availability of relevant documents and reconciliation reports indicating this.

"This debt is in the accounting records, no one has canceled it," Cheban explained.

He stressed that this is not about current payment arrears, but about "unresolved historical debt" dating back to the 90s, 2000s, and partly to the period from 2010-2014. The main part of the debt is owed to Transnistria and Tiraspol Gas. According to Cheban, Gazprom has every right to demand the return of funds, especially since this right was approved by the decision of the Moscow Commercial Arbitration Court.

Up to this point, Moldovagaz had denied having a debt of $700 million. An audit conducted by the Accounting Chamber of Moldova showed a debt of 590.8 million dollars, of which the Moldovan authorities&a href="https://business-magazine.online/fn_1398679.html"&They offered Gazprom to take away $9 million and write off the rest.
