According to the results of 2023, the poverty rate in Russia is 8.3%. This is reported by TASS with reference to Rosstat data.
The figure of 8.3% means that 12.2 million people live in the country with monetary incomes below the poverty line. In 2023, the poverty line in the Russian Federation was 14.3 thousand rubles. The median per capita income in the country in 2023 was 40.1 thousand rubles.
The lowest poverty rate was in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (3.6%), and the highest in Ingushetia (27%).
It is noted that this is the second estimate of the poverty level for 2023. For each year, Rosstat publishes four estimates: preliminary, first, second and final. The agency will present the latest one in April 2025.
