The unrecognized state of Transnistria will continue to receive gas from the Russian Federation after the end of the contract for the transit of fuel through the territory of Ukraine. This was announced by the President of the Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky following the talks in Moscow.
According to him, Russia will supply gas to Transnistria as humanitarian aid in the amount necessary to cover the needs of the local population, thermal energy and industrial enterprises. The exact volumes, transit route and start date of deliveries will be determined during additional negotiations.
Moldova, and especially Transnistria, found themselves on the verge of an energy crisis after the Ukrainian authorities refused to extend the contract for gas transit from Russia to Europe on their territory (from January 1, 2025). Transnistria has no other alternative to pipeline gas supplies.
