The spread of fuel oil spilled from tankers damaged in the Kerch Strait is facilitated by the wind. In the near future, oil products will reach Cape Tarkhankut, where a specially protected natural area is located - Tarkhankutsky Park". This is reported by TASS with reference to experts.

gt;- We predicted that on January 6-7 it would reach Yevpatoria - unfortunately, the forecast came true. The south wind is still blowing, and pollution may spread north and reach the Tarkhankut area," the agency quotes Sergey Stanichny, a specialist in remote research methods who cooperates with the Maritime Rescue Service.

However, according to him, no serious fuel oil emissions are expected from Tarkhankut, as most of it remained on the Anapa coast. There is also a high probability of the release of petroleum products in the area of Laspi and Foros.

The expert noted that it was difficult to fix the contamination zone using satellite images, since the leakage of fuel oil had stopped.
