Russian companies using recyclables will receive a discount on the payment of an environmental fee.

Starting from January 1, 2025, companies that use recycled materials for the production of goods or their packaging will receive a discount on the payment of an environmental fee. For this purpose, a special reduction factor is introduced. The resolution that sets out the rules for calculating it has already been signed.

The reduction factor will work like this: the more recycled materials are used in a product or its packaging, the less you will have to pay for an environmental fee. This will create an incentive for businesses to use recyclables more actively, which will eventually lead to a reduction in the amount of waste in landfills, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.

The conditions under which companies will be able to receive a discount have also been defined. In 2025, enterprises will be able to claim compensation if they use at least 55% of recycled materials in their packaging. In 2026, this figure will increase to 75%.
