Migrant children who have failed the Russian language proficiency test will not be able to enroll in a Russian school. The relevant law was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The document was published on the official website of legal acts.

The Ministry of Education will determine the testing procedure. Rosobrnadzor was entrusted with conducting the testing itself, developing assessment criteria and setting the minimum number of points for successful enrollment in school.

The law will come into force on April 1, 2025.
