Starting from 2025, Russian motor oils will run out of certificates of conformity issued by foreign laboratories. Therefore, they cannot be produced or sold without these documents. This is reported by the publication «News».

Earlier, the International Committee for Standardization and Approbation, the Japanese Organization for Standardization of the Automotive Industry JASO, the Petroleum Institute in the USA, the International Community of Automotive Engineers SAE and a number of other foreign agencies were engaged in the research and issuance of certificates of conformity to Russian engine oils. There are no alternative domestic laboratories.

There is no full-fledged testing base in the Russian Federation, as there are no uniform requirements for conducting qualification tests. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, it will take up to three years to create a national standardization system for oils and technical liquids.

Market experts note that currently the share of Russian brands of oils accounts for 80% of the domestic market. Since Russian manufacturers have lost the opportunity to test their products abroad, in fact, they all risk being "outlawed". There is also a growing risk of changing the composition of oils by unscrupulous manufacturers and, as a result, a decrease in their quality.
