Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the Fundamentals of the state policy of Nuclear deterrence. The document is published on the website of the publication of legal acts.

The basic principle of the doctrine has remained unchanged - the use of nuclear weapons is an extreme measure to protect the sovereignty of the Russian Federation. However, the parameters allowing its use have changed. This is due to the emergence of new military threats and risks for the country.

Thus, the decree expanded the list of states and military alliances against which the Russian Federation conducts nuclear deterrence, expanded the list of military threats, the neutralization of which will require the use of nuclear weapons.

Now Russia will perceive as a joint attack any aggression from a non-nuclear state with the support or participation of a nuclear state. Any aggression against the Russian Federation by the state of the military bloc will be considered by Russia as an aggression of the entire bloc. The decision on the use of nuclear weapons remains with the President of the Russian Federation.

Also, a nuclear response awaits countries that pose a critical threat to the sovereignty of the Union State - Belarus.
