Russia may increase imports of potatoes from Egypt, Azerbaijan and China

To cover the needs of the domestic potato market, Russia may increase the purchase of this product from friendly countries. This opinion was voiced by the deputy chairman of the Board of the association "Rusprodsoyuz" Dmitry Leonov, reports TASS.

According to Leonov, Russia can increase potato imports at the expense of products from Egypt, China, Azerbaijan and Pakistan. In 2024, these countries became the main Russian suppliers (excluding the EAEU and Iran) of potatoes. Egypt is the leader, accounting for 85.3% of the total volume of supplies to the Russian Federation. From January to April 2024, Russia imported potatoes in the amount of 56.9 thousand tons.
