In the first half of 2024, the volume of drug production in the Russian Federation increased by 14.6% compared to the same period last year. This is reported by TASS with reference to Dmitry Galkin, head of the Department for the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical industry of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
According to Galkin, in 2023, the production of medicines showed an increase of 7.2%. Interim results for the first half of the year already indicate a twofold increase. It is assumed that by the end of the year, the industry will have something to be "proud of" both in terms of content and specific products.
As Galkin noted, the main focus is currently on the production of vital and essential drugs against orphan diseases, as well as antibiotics and antiviral drugs. The technological possibility of their production in the territory of the Russian Federation is about 80% - for ready-made dosage forms and about 60% - for the production of active pharmaceutical substances.
