In October, the global food price index averaged 127.4 points. This is 2% higher month-on-month and 5.5% higher year-on-year. Such data is transmitted by Bloomberg with reference to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

In October, the index of the cost of cereals, vegetable oils, meat, sugar, and dairy products increased by 2%. According to experts, fixed world food prices have reached the highest level in the last 1.5 years.

This is explained by the sharp increase in quotations for vegetable oil, as well as the continued increase in the cost of cereals. Agricultural producers are afraid of a decrease in production volumes against the background of adverse weather conditions, which will further lead to an even greater increase in consumer prices.
