In Russia, about 6.5 million people are potentially employed in the shadow sector of the economy. Such data were announced by the head of the Department of Employment and Labor Migration of the Ministry of Labor of Russia Mikhail Kirsanov, reports TASS.

Kirsanov explained the methodology for calculating potential shadow employment. The total number of citizens who have reason not to work is taken as a basis, according to the Federal Migration Service, from which the categories that really do not work are subtracted - these are students and the disabled. With this calculation, it turned out that about 6.5 million people participate in shadow employment.

He stressed that the largest number of workers in shadow employment falls on small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the service sector.
