In 2024, Russia increased the purchase of butter from friendly countries by 20%. This is reported by the newspaper Vedomosti with reference to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Oksana Lut.

According to Lut, butter production in Russia is stable, however, against the background of rising household incomes, demand for this product has increased noticeably and a certain imbalance has formed in the market. In this regard, imports have been expanded, in particular from such major exporters as Turkey, Iran, and India.

The Ministry of Agriculture expects that the situation in the domestic market will be temporary, and the increase in butter imports will cool the market and stabilize prices.

According to Rosstat, from January to September of this year, the cost of butter increased by 18%.
