A court in Moscow has extended the arrest of top managers of JSC Gryazinsky Food Processing Plant Alexander Mikhailenko, Valery Kovalevich and Elvira Smirnova in the case of supplying substandard food for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Let us remind you that the main person involved in the criminal case on the supply of millions of low-quality dry rations to the army is 69-year-old former Deputy Defense Minister Dmitry Bulgakov. He, along with other accomplices, was detained at the end of July. The former deputy minister is accused of lobbying the interests of JSC Gryazinsky Food Processing Plant, which was headed by Alexander Mikhailenko.

Police officers conducted the necessary searches in the case in New Moscow. Bulgakov is suspected of  joint business with «Gryazinsky Food Processing Plant ».Under the guise of canned beef, cheap chicken and pork were given to the fighters participating in the zone of the SVO. The examination found that dry rations do not meet the established requirements and should be banned, their energy value is significantly lower than if beef or mutton were used.Later, a new defendant appeared in the case, businessman Igor Kotelnikova. He was placed under arrest for interfering with the investigation, but in July he died suddenly in jail.

Recall that JSC «Gryazinsky Food Processing Plant» (GPC) is located in the Lipetsk region. The company was founded in 1944 to supply food to the armed forces of the USSR. In the late 1990s, GPC began to produce dry rations for hunters, fishermen and travelers. The co-owners of the GPC are Alexander Mikhalenko and Elvira Smirnova, part of the GPC belongs to Valery Kovalevich, deputy of the Gryazinsky municipal district.
