In Russia in 2025, the possibility of visa-free stay of foreign cruise tourists for up to 72 hours may be established. This was reported by Nikita Kondratiev, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development, TASS reports.

According to him, this practice has already shown a positive economic effect. For example, a similar experiment was previously conducted in St. Petersburg, where foreign tourists who disembarked from cruise ships could travel around the city without a visa for three days. The expansion of this mechanism to other regions is currently being worked out jointly with the Ministry of Transport.

It is assumed that due to this measure, the inbound tourist flow to the Russian Federation from the Caspian region, Iran and Azerbaijan will increase.

- We are planning with the five Caspian states to develop a large agreement on cruise tourism in the Caspian Sea. It will include the development of joint tourist routes and the maintenance of a visa-free regime for 72 hours," Kondratiev stressed.

At the same time, there is no question of extending this mechanism to intourists arriving in the Russian Federation by planes and trains.
