The European Union has lost most of its economic advantages due to the rejection of energy resources from Russia, the imposition of sanctions, the loss of interest from the United States and competition with China. This is reported by RIA-Novosti, with reference to a report prepared at the request of the European Commission.

The report notes that the price of gas in the EU has become 4-5 times higher than in the United States, electricity is 2-3 times higher, and the European market is facing fundamental problems. The same document warns that the EU may even cease to exist if it does not accelerate its economic growth and reconsider its ambitions. In addition, the United States is no longer ready to be a "security umbrella" for Europe, as previously assumed, and Europe will have to defend itself on its own.
