Dmitry Milyaev: we all live in a period of overcoming difficulties, and our business copes with them

The economy of the Tula region has completed the year 2023 positively. This year, all the achieved indicators have been preserved and multiplied. This is despite the fact that industry and agriculture continue to live and develop in difficult external conditions. Dmitry Milyaev, the Acting Governor of the Tula Region, spoke about the nuances and prospects of such development in a large interview for the Federal Business Magazine. 

«The military-industrial complex, chemistry, metallurgy and mechanical engineering — the foundations of our economy. If we talk in "dry numbers", then we finished the year 2023 quite well: we have a high index of industrial production, second in the Central Federal District and in the Russian Federation. Over the past period of 2024, the dynamics has actually been maintained. Production volumes have increased significantly, especially in the military-industrial complex, since we are focused on fulfilling the state defense order. It is not for nothing that at one time Alexey Gennadievich, while still acting as the head of the region, created a headquarters to provide personnel to defense industry enterprises.

The automotive industry is developing quite actively. There was growth in the industry in 2023, and we expect it in 2024. What is noteworthy is not just an increase in output volumes, but also further consolidation of work in the region. On the other hand, the emergence of new car brands, the demand for which is constantly growing with a restrained pricing policy. 

If we take metallurgy and chemistry, then it is more difficult here—  we have to reorient ourselves to other markets, there is a change in the export vector. But there was no critical subsidence in the industries, on the contrary, over the past period, the volume of shipments increased. And here we must pay tribute to both business owners and managers who solve all difficult tasks.
