In Russia, wine prices may rise due to an increase in excise taxes on alcoholic beverages. First of all, we are talking about fortified wines, such as cahors, the price per bottle of which can increase by 250 rubles. This is reported by the RBC edition with reference to its sources.

After May 1 of this year, when excise tax rates changed, fortified wine producers suffered the most. In particular, it is known that the additional financial burden on Crimean producers of fortified wine in 2024 due to changes in the procedure for collecting excise duty will amount to more than 1 billion rubles.

This can lead to an increase in the retail value of fortified wine, including cahors, by 250 rubles, at retail, which is about 60% of the cost of the most budget versions of this drink. Such a price increase could seriously hit the wine sales industry.
