In the first six months, the number of tourist trips in Russia increased by 11.8% compared to the same period last year. Maxim Reshetnikov, Head of the Ministry of Economic Development, reported on this at a meeting with the president.
He noted that since the beginning of the year, Russians have made 39 million trips around the country. Since the beginning of the season, the annual increase was 5% in May and 12.8% in June. The number of foreign tourists has increased to 2 million people. The most visited regions were Moscow, Krasnodar Territory and St. Petersburg.For air transportation, the growth in the reporting period was 3.4%.
More than 50 thousand rooms are being built in Russian hotels as part of the preferential lending program. Support for projects for the creation of glamping and modular hotels continues, 1 thousand rooms have been commissioned since the beginning of the year.
During the report, the head of the Ministry of Economic Development asked for an extension of the VAT reset for hotels until 2030. The Ministry of Finance supported this request.
