In May of this year, the United States purchased enriched uranium from Russia for $209.5million, RIA Novosti reports. With a link to data from the American Bureau of Statistics.

It follows from the American data that these figures turned out to be the highest since March last year, when uranium was purchased in the United States for 245.9million dollars.

Recall that Russia began supplying uranium to the USA after a break in April. During the month, the American side purchased 91.1 tons of fuel. At the same time, for the entire time, uranium supplies from Russia exceeded the amount of 987 million dollars.

On May 14, US President Joe Biden signed a law prohibiting the import of non-irradiated, low-enriched uranium produced in the Russian Federation or by a Russian company. However, according to the document, despite the restriction, in exceptional cases and in the absence of other sources, the country will be able to purchase fuel until January 2028. So purchases of Russian uranium continue, despite all the sanctions and restrictions.
