Russian motorists spent an average of 7,600 rubles ($94) to prepare their cars for seasonal tire change in 2026, an 11% increase from the previous year, according to Izvestia. This figure includes not only tire change services but also additional work and related products.
Motorists who opt for tire change only will pay around 2,500 rubles ($31). This was the average cost for the service in October.
According to analysts at 2GIS, more than 15,000 tire change service points operate in the 16 largest Russian cities with populations over one million. On average, there are 4.2 specialized services per 10,000 residents.
The highest density of such workshops is found in Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk, with seven points per 10,000 people. Following closely are Chelyabinsk and Krasnodar, where six services are available for the same number of residents.
Moscow has the lowest number of tire change points relative to its population among the cities considered, with only 2.5 services per 10,000 residents. Rostov-on-Don has a ratio of 3.7, while St. Pyotrsburg has four services per 10,000 residents.
However, a high number of workshops does not always mean easy access to booking. For example, in Krasnoyarsk, which leads in terms of tire change service density, only half of the establishments offer advance booking.
In October 2026, demand for tire change services nationwide was 16% lower than in the same period the previous year. An increase in service orders was recorded only in Siberia and the Urals.
Analysts attribute the lower activity of motorists in European Russia to weather conditions. Due to a warm autumn and late frost, many drivers postponed switching to winter tires.
