### Russian Retail and Industrial IoT Devices Vulnerable to Hacking Similar to French Scenario Russian retail and industrial IoT devices could be compromised in a similar way to the French scenario, where hackers disrupted refrigeration systems in several supermarket chains, according to Konstantin Mushovets, SOC Director at UCBS, as reported by [TASS](https://tass.ru/obschestvo/28280311). > "A similar situation is possible in Russia, and similar incidents have already been recorded. In the first half of 2026, we identified IoT attacks as one of the growing trends. Often, IoT devices in retail and manufacturing are connected to common networks without proper segmentation and protection, making them easy targets," Mushovets stated. Mushovets warned that, in addition to retail chains, industrial control systems are also at risk of cyberattacks. Such disruptions could lead not only to production downtime but also affect critical infrastructure. He emphasized that companies should conduct timely audits of their systems and secure their equipment. > "We need to maintain an up-to-date inventory of legitimate devices, segment the network with only necessary connections allowed, change default passwords, and restrict administrative access—preferably with multi-factor authentication. Regularly install updates where available, track vulnerability information and assess its applicability, maintain event logs, and analyze network behavior. Use specialized systems for monitoring and response," Mushovets advised. Earlier, in France, Belgium, and Sweden, several supermarket chains were targeted by hackers who raised the temperature in refrigeration units to 50 degrees Celsius, causing all products to spoil.
