Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree introducing a visa-free regime for Vietnamese citizens. According to the document published on the official legal acts portal, Vietnamese nationals will be able to enter Russia without a visa until October 15, 2027.
Foreign citizens are allowed to stay in Russia continuously for no more than 30 days. However, the visa-free arrangement does not apply to trips for employment purposes.
Visa-free entry is permitted for business and tourist visits, participation in various events, as well as for transit travel through Russia en route to third countries and back.
The decision comes amid growing tourism ties between Russia and Vietnam. In September 2026, Putin noted the increasing popularity of the Asian country among Russian travelers. He stated that Russians made over 800,000 trips to Vietnam in 2026.
