Putin Orders Centralized Collection of Data for Russian AI Training

Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the government to organize a centralized collection, processing, and provision of scientific and technical information necessary for training sovereign and national fundamental artificial intelligence (AI) models.

The directive was published in a list of presidential assignments on the Kremlin’s official website.

The government has also been tasked with preparing, if necessary, amendments to Russian legislation that would enable the implementation of this mechanism.

The initiative aims to establish a unified approach to working with scientific and technical data used in the development and training of large-scale fundamental AI models.
