Kremlin Explains Reasons Behind Foreign Management Transfer of Nestle and Auchan Units in Russia

Russian subsidiaries of Nestle and Auchan belong to companies from countries classified as "unfriendly" by Moscow, which are actively participating in military actions against Russia, assisting Kiev in striking civilian targets. This was the reasoning given by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov to explain the logic behind the decision to place these assets under external management.

"We are talking about European companies from unfriendly countries. And, of course, one of the factors taken into account when making this decision was that this is an unfriendly country, and a country that is currently actively involved in military actions against our country. These are countries that have been involved in strikes by the Kiev regime against our peaceful economic infrastructure," Peskov explained.

Peskov added that other "work-related factors" were also considered. He stressed that for now, the decision only involves introducing external management, and no other decisions, such as transferring the assets to new owners, have been made.

When asked about the choice of "L.E.V. Management" as the temporary manager of the assets, Peskov declined to comment, noting only that the company "best met the necessary criteria."

• On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree transferring the Russian assets of Auchan, Nestle, FM Logistics, Bati Logistics, and "Le Monlid" (formerly "Leroy Merlin") to the temporary management of "L.E.V. Management".
