In Russia, teachers have been granted a "special status and public significance" by President Vladimir Putin.
This special status expands social guarantees for teaching professionals. Specifically, regulations regarding teaching workload will be revised. The government has been tasked with preparing new regulations within six months.
Teachers are guaranteed protection from threats to their life and health related to their pedagogical activities, free legal assistance on educational issues and labor rights. They are also guaranteed the right to free visits to state museums at least once a month and free access to electronic educational resources.
Mentorship programs are provided for new teachers. Upon reaching 25 years of teaching experience, educators will receive the title of "Veteran of Labor" (a Russian honor bestowed for long-term service in a profession).
