Three more series-produced Russian LNG carriers of high ice class will be commissioned in the next few years, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced at the "Innoprom-2026" event.

He noted that Russia has already built its first two domestic LNG carriers, the "Aleksey Kosygin" and the "Konstantin Posyet," which are capable of operating in the harshest Arctic conditions. Three more vessels of the same class will soon join them.

- At the design stage, some foreign systems were included in these vessels. Now, in order to eliminate their presence, work has already begun on designing a fully Russian tanker for LNG transportation. In the future, it could form the backbone of the cargo fleet on the strategic routes of the Northern Sea Route (NSR), the Prime Minister emphasized.

In total, over 150 ships of various types were built in Russia in 2025 and the beginning of 2026.
