Putin appoints ex-Belgorod region governor Gladkov as ambassador to Abkhazia

Former Governor of Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov has been appointed as Ambassador to Abkhazia. The decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Vyacheslav Gladkov resigned early from his position as Governor of Belgorod Region in early May 2026. President Putin accepted his resignation and appointed Alexander Shuvalov as acting governor of the region.
