Russian Deputy Interior Minister Post Filled by Major General Alexei Makarov

Major General of Police Alexei Makarov has been appointed as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia. The new deputy minister was introduced to the staff by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Vladimir Kolokoltsev.

Makarov will be responsible for information technology, communications, and information security, as well as material-technical, medical, domestic, and transportation support for law enforcement agencies.

The position of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia became vacant after the departure of Police Colonel General Vitaly Shulik. It was reported earlier that Shulik was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense in place of Oleg Saveliev, who left his post due to a job change.
