Former Bryansk Region Governor Alexander Bogomaz may receive a State Duma mandate, according to sources within the ruling United Russia party, as reported by Kommersant.

It is expected that Bogomaz will take the seat vacated by former United Russia deputy Ayrat Farrakhov (Tatarstan), who left the State Duma due to a change in employment. In the autumn of 2026, Bogomaz is set to be elected to the next Duma session as part of the United Russia party list, where he plans to represent the interests of the Bryansk region.

  • On the previous day, Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of Alexander Bogomaz, with Yegor Kovalchuk appointed as acting governor of the Bryansk region.
