Fedor Shchukin to Act as Interim Head of Dagestan. Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree appointing Fedor Shchukin as the interim head of the Republic of Dagestan until a newly elected leader takes office. The decree was published on the legal information website.

"Appoint Fedor Vyacheslavovich Shchukin as acting head of the Republic of Dagestan until the person elected as head of the Republic of Dagestan assumes office," the decree states.

Prior to this appointment, since February 2024, Shchukin served as the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Dagestan. On May 4, the Higher Qualification Collegium of Judges (HQCJ) of Russia terminated his tenure "in connection with his honorable retirement."
