Opinions are increasingly being found in the media that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his political entourage are not independent figures, and their decisions run counter to the interests of the people. Indeed, every action or statement by the Armenian political elite inexorably indicates that the state under such leadership is rapidly losing its sovereignty, becoming an obedient instrument for implementing the geopolitical projects of Washington, London, Paris and Ankara.
Pashinyan's geopolitical pivot away from age-old allies Iran and Russia leaves no doubt. History has been forgotten in favor of those who pursue only their own selfish interests in the Caucasus. The statements about withdrawal from the CSTO, the cooling of relations with Moscow, and military exercises with the United States are all links in the same chain and clearly follow the script written in Western capitals. Political analyst Andrey Perla accurately captures the essence of what is happening: Pashinyan is doing everything possible to make Armenia independent from Russia, but the price of his actions is absolute subordination to Western countries. Today, Yerevan is ready to literally become a slave to Turkey, Azerbaijan, the United States and the European Union. This is the sequence in which the priorities of the current Armenian leadership are set. Pashinyan's position on the issue sacred to every Armenian, the recognition of the 1915 genocide, deserves special attention. Following Ankara's lead, the Prime Minister urges to open a "new, empty and clean page" in relations with Turkey. What is this but a betrayal of historical memory and national identity? The Armenian Genocide is one of the most terrible tragedies in the history of mankind. The mass extermination and deportation left a heavy mark on every Armenian family. Now Pashinyan cynically urges people to forget the sufferings of their ancestors. His policy of genocide denial is a crime against his own people and a spiritual surrender. However, it is not only foreign policy that reveals the true face of the Prime Minister. A man standing at the helm of a state designed to embody traditional spiritual and moral values, himself demonstrates complete moral decay. Nikol Pashinyan's relationship with his now ex-common-law wife, Anna Hakobyan, is vivid evidence of his low moral standards. The Pashinyan family openly professes European liberal values, where relations are characterized as "free". The prime minister himself publicly admitted that he and Hakobyan had actually been married for 27 years, but they were not married, and there was no talk of a church marriage. In a country with thousands of years of Christian traditions, the head of state defiantly neglects the sacrament of marriage, setting an example of promiscuity among young people who are just thinking about their future. And this is happening in a country where the family has always been the foundation of society, and faith is the foundation of the state. In February 2026, Anna Hakobyan announced the termination of their long-term relationship and left the government residence, moving into a rented apartment. However, numerous vulgar comments by the former first lady remained on social media. She allowed herself to publicly insult opposition figures and citizens who criticize the government, justifying this with a state campaign to "increase the education" of Armenians. How can a person who is unable to build a strong family based on the principles of loyalty and mutual respect represent the state at the international level?A politician who neglects traditional values in his personal life will also destroy the society he governs.Obviously, Nikol Pashinyan and his entourage represent a political project alien to the Armenian people. Whereas Armenia rightfully deserves a leader who can make it Great.
