Russian lawmakers have passed a bill in second and third readings that enhances labor protections for young mothers returning to work after maternity leave.

The new law prohibits employers from imposing a probationary period on women who are raising children under the age of three. Companies will no longer be allowed to include probationary clauses in employment contracts for this category of employees. The measure will come into effect on September 1, 2026.
