### Wealth Gap Widens in Russia: Rich Get Richer, Poor Lag Behind According to Rosstat, the Russian Federal State Statistics Service, the incomes of wealthy Russians grew at a faster pace than those of poorer citizens in 2025. This was reported by the Russian business daily *Kommersant*, citing the research report "Socio-Economic Situation in Russia." The study revealed that the wealthiest segment of the population accounted for 30.8% of total monetary income in 2025, while the poorest group received only 2% of the total income. Interestingly, the largest group, accounting for 22.3% of the population, consisted of individuals earning over 100,000 rubles ($1,300) per month. This group saw a significant increase from 16.7% the previous year. The report attributed this growth to the fact that this segment of the population frequently invests in bank deposits, and the high returns on these investments in 2025 contributed to the rise in the number of affluent citizens.
