Russian mobile operators have stopped displaying special markings on calls from Sberbank, VTB and Alfa Bank to their customers, RBC reports. Since January 27, such calls no longer carry markings indicating that the call is coming from a credit institution.

This change affects a call identification service that was introduced as part of measures to combat telephone fraud. Previously, subscribers would see labels such as "bank" or the name of a specific financial institution on their screens. Now, instead of this, the status "unmarked call" is displayed.

According to an RBC source, the reason for the change is the lack of active contracts between major banks and mobile operators for the provision of mandatory call marking services. The credit institutions have not yet concluded the necessary agreements, leading the operators to disable the identification feature.

Official representatives of the "Big Four" operators did not directly clarify whether agreements with the banks have been reached. For their part, the banks stated that the responsibility for displaying information about the caller lies with the mobile operators.
