Russia will become a leader in gas exports to Asia by 2050 - Novak

By 2050, Russia will become the first gas exporter to Asian markets. This forecast was voiced by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak in an article for the magazine "Energy Policy".

By this period, it is planned to organize cooperation with friendly countries on the joint development of gas infrastructure and the conclusion of long-term contracts, the formation of swap supplies. In particular, pipeline gas exports are planned to increase to 197 billion cubic meters by 2036 and take a leading position among exporting countries to Asian gas markets by 2050.

gt;Russia plans to become one of the top three suppliers in the LNG market and increase its production to 100 million tons. To achieve this goal, Russia will develop its own LNG service and technology, expand its fleet of gas carriers, and create specialized hubs for LNG transshipment, storage, and trade. It is assumed that advanced domestic engineering in the petrochemical and LNG industries will allow for import substitution, as well as export technologies in this area.
