The European Commission is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 project if Russia does not agree to a truce with Ukraine. This was announced by the head of the EC press service, Paula Pinho, at a briefing in Brussels.

At the same time, Pinho did not specify the details of the sanctions.

Earlier, EC representative Anita Hipper said that the European Commission intends to increase pressure on Russia, but now the priority is the adoption of the 17th package of sanctions. The European Commission was forced to amend the 17th package of sanctions in order to speed up its adoption by EU countries. The updated version blacklisted about 60 companies and individuals, as well as 150 tankers, but did not add new structural economic restrictions.
