In more than 30 cities of central Russia, large-scale interruptions in the operation of the mobile Internet were recorded on the night of May 7. According to a Baza source, the outages are related to countering possible drone attacks. There are also interruptions in mobile communications.

The situation is particularly serious in Saransk and several settlements of Mordovia, where communication is almost completely absent. Problems are also noted in the Yaroslavl, Tver, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Tula, Leningrad, Kaluga and Kursk regions. Some failures were recorded even in Moscow and St. Petersburg, although communications in the capitals are intermittent and not completely disconnected.

According to preliminary information, the restrictions have been introduced proactively to protect critical infrastructure.

The telecom operators have not yet given official comments on the scope and duration of the restrictions. Users complain about the inability to make calls, use messengers and mobile banking.
