The Russian prototype of the Superjet (SJ-100) aircraft made its first flight with domestic PD-8 engines. This was announced on March 17 by the press service of the Rostec state Corporation.

The aircraft was in the air for about 40 minutes, reached a speed of 500 km/h and an altitude of up to 3,000 m with a practical ceiling of 12200 - 12700 m and speeds of up to 870 - 910 km/h.

The flight marked the beginning of flight tests of a domestic power plant as part of an imported airliner.

During his flight, the assessment of the gas dynamic stability of the engines in different modes was carried out.

The PD-8 powered aircraft has joined flight testing, which is an important and long-awaited step along the way for certification of a technologically independent version of the Superjet. The complete dedication and overcoming of all challenges by the engine builders allowed the aircraft to successfully complete its first flight using Russian engines. To intensify certification tests, the manufacturer plans to connect a third, fully Russian Superjet to them, Denis Manturov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rostec State Corporation, commented.

The import-substituted Superjet will receive about 40 new Russian-designed systems and assemblies instead of imported ones, experts from the telegram channel estimated the development.https://t.me/RussianArms">Russian weapons»/a>:

The product has a specific fuel consumption of 0.61 kg/(kgf/h), a pressure increase of 28, a double-circuit degree of 4.4 and a take-off thrust of 7000 kgf. Also, the PD-8, which is a less heavy-duty version of the PD-14, has a very low acoustic signature. It is assumed that these 2.3-ton engines will also be able to be placed on Be-200 amphibious aircraft.
