The Moldovan Ministry of Energy plans to discuss with the Russian gas supplier Gazprom alternative ways of supplying fuel to the unrecognized Transnistria, bypassing the territory of Ukraine. This was announced by the head of the Moldovan department, Viktor Parlikov, in an interview with Radio Moldova.

According to him, the need to find an alternative route for gas supplies to the territory of Transnistria is associated with the risk of termination of its transit by the Ukrainian side.

Once the only gas supplier to Moldova, Gazprom reduced its daily supply by 30% in 2022. This was explained by the restriction of transit from Ukraine. In this regard, the right-bank part of Moldova began to buy fuel from European suppliers, while Russian gas remained in Transnistria.
