Miss Russia 2015 was detained for smuggling jewelry worth 12 million rubles

In Vnukovo, the airport customs service detained a Russian woman who planned to smuggle jewelry worth 12 million rubles without a corresponding declaration. The detained turned out to be the Ural model Sofia Nikitchuk, reports "Business Magazine. Ural"/a>.

A famous participant in international beauty contests was detained upon arrival from Nice. A customs officer noticed the jewelry while inspecting the luggage. The model had a Patek Philippe watch, a necklace and two Cartier rings.

She explained that she did not declare the values, as she considered them personal belongings. The conducted examination confirmed the authenticity and value of these jewelry. In relation to Nikitchuk, the issue of initiating a criminal case under the articles "Smuggling of strategically important goods" is being resolved&"and "Evasion of customs duties".

Sofia Nikitchuk received the title of «Miss Yekaterinburg» in 2014, «Miss Russia» in 2015, and also took second place in the competition «Miss World&in 2015. In 2018, the model received the position of assistant to the deputy of the State Duma from the Krasnodar Territory Sergey Krivonosov.
